The St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association, which was founded in 1967, is a non-governmental organization whose mandate is to offer quality sexual reproductive health information and services to all St. Lucians. The Management and Staff of the Association are committed to ensuring that the rights of individuals are fully respected and see the association as a place in which all women, men, young people have access to the information and services; a place in which sexuality is recognized both as a natural and precious aspect of life and a fundamental human right in which choices are fully respected and where stigma and discrimination have no place.
Sexual health may be defined as a state of physical, emotional, mental and social wellbeing in relation to sexuality; it is not the absence of disease, dysfunction or infirmity. The sexual rights of all persons should be respected and fulfilled in order for their sexual health to be achieved and maintained. Reproductive health is a state of physical, mental and social wellbeing in all matters relating to the reproductive system and its functions. Sexual and Reproductive health is very important throughout an individual’s life as it is a vital aspect in how persons develop and maintain personal relationships, appreciate and take care of their bodies and reproduce.

We at St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association believe that sexual and reproductive rights should be guaranteed because it is recognized as a basic human right. The association commits to working in partnership with communities, government, donor agencies and other organizations. The association also considers the spirit of its board members to be central to achieving its mandate and advancing the cause. The mission of St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association is to provide quality Reproductive Health Care services to all persons regardless of age, gender or sexual orientation complimenting the National effort free of fear, discrimination and psychological or institutional abuse by promoting family welfare and reducing the incidence of unwanted pregnancies specifically among adolescent through advocacy and services while assisting to mitigate the spread and impact of HIV/AIDS. The main objective of the organization is to promote the improvement of the quality of life of the St. Lucian people through family planning and sexual and reproductive health care services. There are currently seventeen trained committed persons employed at the organization to assist in carrying out its mandate.
Every year, St. Lucia Planned Parenthood Association helps hundreds of poor vulnerable people avoid unwanted pregnancies, unsafe sex, unsafe abortion, STI- related illnesses and HIV related stigma and discrimination; also fight for local, national and global policies which recognize as a fundamental human right, the right to sexual reproductive health.
We look forward to continuing this service to the nation of ST. Lucia, and the use of this website to provide and inform the general populace on the efforts and activities of the association while enhancing our services delivery to provide quality information and services to the persons we serve.
